Job Summary / Basic Function:

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:The Accounting Clerk I's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing duties for the daily operations of the Cashier's Office. This position assists with third party contracts and collections. The Accounting Clerk I is a non-exempt position, and reports directly to the Director of Finance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes payments of tuition and miscellaneous fees
  • Reconciling system and cash drawer daily
  • Issues Short Term Loans
  • Assists with 1098-T's
  • Processes accounts payable after checks are printed
  • Processes payroll checks after checks are printed
  • Enters students into system for testing
  • Assists Financial Aid Department
    • with student loan money received by check not direct deposit
    • with checking student status of financial aid
    • with checking student account for financial aid holds
    • with reviewing exception report for financial aid checks
  • Processes parking fees and parking passes
  • Assists in recording and filing of reports for entire Finance Office
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands are those consistent with working in an office environment. Extended work hours and travel may occasionally be required.Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION/QUALIFCATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience cashiering
  • Knowledge of accounts payable processing and financial aid
Preferred Qualifications:

PREFERRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An associate degree in accounting or a related field from a regionally accredited university
  • Experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of Student Information System (SIS), Financial Records System (FRS), and Financial Aid Management (FAM)
Salary:

$31,500
