Help children stay safe, supported, and healthy!

The Michael Fisher Child Health Equity Center collaborates within CCHMC and the community in pursuit of a vision where all children can achieve their full potential for health and well-being.

We seek a highly motivated, results focused Analyst 2 - Data Science who can take a strategic and population-level approach in data collection, analysis, and interpretation as part of an integrated team. This includes work with community partners to bring their data to bear, alone and combined with other sources, for greater impact on child health and well-being. Potential partners include HCJFS, CPS, CHD, Metro and others.

Analysts supporting the Fisher Equity Center have used data to:
  • Understand how embedded social factors may disparately impact specific neighborhoods, and how interventions can address those structural factors
  • Identify areas of substandard housing where children may need screening for lead exposure, asthma, and other environmental health risks
  • Help community organizations track the impact they're making in reducing food insecurity, child abuse and neglect, and other barriers to children thriving
  • Explore how to most effectively take a whole-systems measurement approach to impact child and family outcomes
We want a team with a diverse set of personal and professional backgrounds. Analysts at CCHMC have come from business consulting, nonprofits, journalism, and more.

Job Duties:
  • Advise project teams on statistical principles and guidelines to inform analytic and measurement strategies with the support of analytic team members
  • Drive reporting and draw insight from the analytic deliverables that you will create yourself and as part of an analytics team. This could include helping to create and populate dashboards using reporting technologies within the group.
  • Consult with clinicians, researchers, community partners, quality improvement specialists, and others on designing and collecting meaningful measurements
  • Collaborate on the design, development, and production of analytics deliverables such as dashboards and improvement measure reports
  • Disaggregate data and explore causes of identified inequities in outcomes
  • Assist in the development of systems to support efficient inquiries that mature over time. This could include documenting operating procedures, automating data processes, maintaining data management systems, developing visualizations and displays, and developing and implementing processes for validating results.
  • Create visualizations and displays of data to tell stories that support evidence-based decisions
  • Grow the team's insights and expertise relevant to initiatives that improve child health equity, help all children reach their full potential, and improving community systems to allow children and families to thrive.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2-5 years of work with increasing capabilities and responsibilities
  • Experience with analytics software and one or more programming languages such as R, SQL, Python, SAS, Stata, or SPSS
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience querying and analyzing large datasets and/or relational databases
  • Comfort working with a diverse array of community partners
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control principles and techniques
