SUMMARY
Paragon Professional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation and Asset Protection & Security Services, LLC are seeking individuals who are qualified to become an Armed Ground Transportation Officer for the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Mount Laurel, NJ.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform transportation duties per PBNDS Standards and Training. Transportation and guard services will be provided 24/7 throughout the Baltimore AOR. Roating shifts
- Ensure all detainee transports are documented and detainee records and possessions are always safeguarded. Provide trip documentation to the Transportation Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Notify Operations Supervisor, Transportation Coordinator and/or Project Manager of any route variations/changes.
- Ensure that any required detainee documentation is obtained from the transferring facility/agency prior to departure.
- Report any safety related transportation issues immediately and complete a vehicle repair order and give to the Supervisor in charge of Fleet Management.
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections on your assigned vehicle prior to departing the HUB. Complete post vehicle checks at the completion of your assignment.
- Ensure all required equipment is present in your assigned vehicle prior to departing. This shall include, but not limited to, first aid kits, insurance card, flares, security devices, etc. (See equipment list assigned to each vehicle.)
- If assigned to a stationary guard post, such as hospital duty, ensure compliance with Post Orders and hospital protocol.
- Ensure you always have in your possession; guard card, weapons permit, ICE ID, Company ID, medical card (if applicable).
- Report any accidents, incidents and/or injuries associated with your transportation duties. Complete any required incident reports and/or documentation prior to your departure.
- Complete a Record of Presence (ROP), equipment and key sign in/out sheet and all associated paperwork necessary, daily.
- Conduct an initial screening of all incoming detainees consisting of a visual and verbal confirmation of each individual detainee (to confirm identity and ensure ICE targeting/identity documents match) as they enter the processing area.
- Initiate and conduct a thorough secondary search of each detainee by checking the detainee's personage, clothing, and personal effects upon entering
- Ensure service forms are properly documented via the appropriate form/detention management processes.
- Distribute and ensure that all ICE detainees are provided one (1) meal and detainee has access to water sources.
- Conduct regular 15 minute 'sight checks' on all ICE hold room cells when occupied by ICE detainees, ensuring proper documentation via an established 'log' or logbook.
- Ensure that each detainee is properly added via the EADM system, utilizing the information contained within the 'Detention Folder' and/or 'detainee intake form'
- Conduct proper searches of detainees, their property, and company vehicles.
- Perform job duties in a manner that maintains proper custody and control of detainees and security equipment.
- Ability to safely operate various vehicles, to include sedans, vans, and 26 passenger bus (CDL drivers
- Transport Officers are required to maintain a valid Armed Guard/Firearms permit as part of their qualifications to perform transport duties. Maintenance includes passing the periodic firearms recertification. Officers who fail to maintain their armed guard/firearms permit may not be assigned to Transportation duties.
- The Contractor shall certify proficiency every quarter. Training curriculum shall include Use of Force training, Tactics, Weapon Safety, and Range Qualifications.
- All Armed Officers are required to recertify with their issued duty handgun at periodicities set forth in the Federal contract or state requirements. Officers must achieve a minimum score of 200 or 80% out of 250 points and must demonstrate safe handling and manipulation of their weapon (or as mandated by state requirements).

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO's) - High School Diploma
- Minimum two (2) years' experience as a Law Enforcement Officer and/or Military Police Officer or six (6) months experience as a security officer engaged in functions related to detailing civil or administrative detainees or, two (2) years active-duty military service with an honorable discharge.
- Must maintain an active telephone to receive assignments and maintain communication with co-workers and supervisory staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
- Effective organizational skills.
Preferred - Possession of a valid New Jersey Permit to Carry
- Possession of a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Card
- Possession of a valid Driver's License or valid Commercial Driver's License for the state you reside in
- Possession of a USDOT Medical Card (for CDL license holders only)
- Current federal background investigation and access or ability to obtain (e-Qip).
- Active Federal government security clearance.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of the time spent sitting will be in a transportation vehicle with limited opportunity to move about.
DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS - This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Job is performed in a transportation vehicle either as a driver or passenger responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all detainees. Daily exposure to various individuals whose medical history is unknown resulting in possible exposure to potentially contagious air and blood borne pathogens.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS - Ability to obtain and maintain Federal Government Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain Wear Carry Permit for the work site specific state
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Guard Certification work site specific state
- Ability to pass pre-hire and random drug tests and physicals.
