The
College of Health and Human Services at
Governors State University (GovState) announces two tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Health Administration in the
Department of Health Administration and Informatics. The Department has grown significantly to offer four academic programs: 1) CAHME-accredited Master Degree of Health Administration (MHA);2) Master of Science Degree in Health Informatics (MSHI); 3) AUPHA-certified Bachelor Degree of Health Administration (BHA), and 4) Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics (BSHI).
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and diversified faculty.
We seek candidates from an academic institution with teaching experience, interest in advising nontraditional and diverse student populations, evidence of a potential or distinguished record of scholarship consistent with tenure-track expectations, and professional service via projects, committees, or other faculty roles.
Duties: Serve as a faculty member to maintain a teaching load commensurate with the duties and responsibilities. Conduct and publish in health care management, policy or health services research, or health information management. Provide professional service to the university and community. The candidate considered for the MSHI program director appointment will collaborate with the department chair and directors of other programs to supervise the program, maintaining its strength, quality, and accreditation.Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in health management, policy, finance, economics, health services research, health informatics, public health, and other related disciplines with a health administration or health informatics focus. ABD, in the final stage of completion, will be considered with evidence of the degree being awarded before hiring.Teachingexperienceordemonstratedpotentialinteachingatthegraduatelevel, Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.Must be able to teach at least two of the following areas: health finance, health information management, database design and administration in healthcare, information security management, big data analytics, capstone course, and/or supervise undergraduate and graduate field experience in health administration and/or health informatics.Demonstrated potential and skills to conduct and publish research. Applicants for the Associate Professor level will be expected to have documented records of peer-reviewed publications and MSHI program director potentials.Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates from the CAHME accredited program.
- Program coordinator or director experience.
- Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative health services research
- Faculty who can teach a wide range of health administration and health informatics program courses
