Purpose of Position

The Psychology Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Dakota seeks a 9-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2025, contingent upon available funding. We are seeking applicants who have expertise in any area of Clinical Psychology, with preference for a focus in Clinical Forensic Psychology, Indigenous Mental Health, or Neuropsychology, and candidates who demonstrate potential for obtaining external funding and who have experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary partners.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Produce peer-reviewed publications within the area of research expertise and seek external grant funds.
  • Teach a mix of online and on campus courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and supervise graduate students (including clinical supervision of graduate students working in our training clinic).
  • All faculty are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and community. UND and the College of Arts & Sciences value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed.

A successful candidate's contract effort allocation would be 35% teaching, 55% research, and 10% service, which includes a course reduction in the first year of the position and then reverts to a 2/2 teaching load thereafter. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding promise for establishing a sustainable research program that will attract external funds and be aligned with the UND LEADS Strategic Plan.

Required Competencies
  • Ability to produce peer-reviewed publications within the area of clinical research
    expertise and seek external grant funds.
  • Ability to teach a mix of online and on campus courses at both the undergraduate and
    graduate level.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty,
    staff, and students.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability and willingness to supervise graduate students (including clinical supervision of
    our graduate students in our training clinic) and contribute to service within the
    department, college, university, and/or community.
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology by August 15, 2025.
  • Licensed/License Eligible in North Dakota.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity in clinical psychology.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong evidence of scholarly productivity in clinical psychology.
  • Experience in research in Clinical Forensic Psychology, Indigenous Mental Health, or
    Neuropsychology
  • Demonstrated success seeking external funding.
  • Experience working collaboratively with interdisciplinary partners.
