Description of Work:The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering (https://engineering.unl.edu/mme/) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in thermal sciences and energy conversion. The successful candidate is expected to develop a world-renowned research program in emerging areas, such as micro/nanoscale and multiscale thermal transport, two-phase flow, thermal management, energy conversion and storage, thermal issues in additive manufacturing, or other areas that contribute to the fundamental understanding and applications of thermal transport. The usage of AI/machine learning in the emerging areas listed above is considered a strength. We seek innovative and inspirational scholars with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and engagement.
The Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering consists of approximately 32 tenured/tenure-track faculty, over 700 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students. Recent investments in the College of Engineering include a new $80M research building and a new $120M teaching and learning building.
