About the Role: The Associate Manager of Payables to Carriers will oversee the day-to-day operations of expedited carrier payment programs and the McLeod carrier system. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of carrier payments. The Associate Manager will work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain strong operational performance and continuous process improvements in the payables function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the payables team handling expedited carrier payments and McLeod-related transactions, ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely processes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Operational Performance: Report directly to the Sr Manager of AP AR and be responsible for ensuring daily operational performance aligns with KPIs and targets for carrier payments.
  • Escalation Management: Act as the main point of contact for any escalated issues regarding carrier payments, McLeod, or expedited payment programs, and ensure that all concerns are resolved promptly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing existing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing process enhancements to improve the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of the payment operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders across various teams (finance, operations, IT) and external carriers to align processes, ensure timely payments, and standardize operational procedures.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to streamline operations, optimize payment workflows, and reduce costs associated with carrier payments.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Manage and analyze payment data, providing regular performance reports and insights to leadership and key stakeholders. Monitor key performance indicators related to payment accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process Documentation & Compliance: Ensure processes are documented clearly and adhered to, maintaining compliance with company policies and regulations. Stay up-to-date on best practices for payables management.
  • Account Reconciliation: Ensure the accurate reconciliation of payables and remittances to carriers, with a focus on addressing discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Team Development: Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting professional growth. Monitor team performance based on defined metrics to ensure high-quality outputs.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in payables, ideally within transportation, logistics, or carrier payment processing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of carrier payment systems, McLeod software, and expedited payment programs
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and provide actionable insights
  • Strong understanding of financial processes and compliance standards
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage relationships with external partners
  • Experience with continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
