The Department of Pathology is seeking an Associate Research Scientist for the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Laboratory (INRL). This position has overall responsibility for the INRL, including functional and administrative supervision of staff, procurement, preparation, and disbursement of human post-mortem brain tissue, and supervising, validating and/or carrying out histologic and microscopic assessments of neuropathologic samples.

Required Qualifications: - Requires a PhD in pathology or a related discipline.
- Typically requires 2 or more years previous experience with biorepository management, specifically as related to brain and related neuropathologic specimens.
- Requires previous experience with neuro-histology and/or neuropathology, including immunohistochemistry.
- Requires experience in designing experiments, gathering and recording data, and presenting results.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Desirable Qualifications: - Certification in biorepository management (QBRS or equivalent) is highly desired.
- Previous brain banking experience is highly desired.
- Previous experience with outreach, particularly to potential brain donors, is highly desired.
- Experience with inventory/project management software is highly desired.
- Experience with the pathology of non-human specimens is desired (including mice, rabbits, rats, etc.).
- Ability to carry out research histology assays (particularly immunohistochemistry for non-human species).
