Description
Governors State University's College of Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach courses in our Theatre and Performance Studies program. Courses taught by adjunct faculty in the above program are primarily for undergraduates. Depending on qualifications and experience, graduate teaching opportunities may be available. We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty to teach courses in a variety of areas:
- In Dance, classes in Hip Hop, World Dance, African Dance, and Dance Therapy.
- In Music, classes in music history and theory such as African American Music, History of Jazz, 20th Century Music.
- In Theatre and Performance Studies, classes such as introductory theatre, storytelling, acting, directing, voice, movement, stagecraft, makeup design, sound design, scene design, costume design, lighting design, and stage management.
Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcripts, and a list of references for consideration.
At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with teaching responsibilities for a specific course in a semester or summer session. Adjuncts are not part of the faculty bargaining unit and are not included in membership of the Faculty Senate.Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsA Master's degree in Theatre, Performance Studies, Dance, Music, or a related discipline.
Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or online courses. Professional experience is also highly desired.Supplemental Information
