A Medical Office Receptionist plays a crucial role in managing the front desk operations of a healthcare facility. They are often the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and vendors.
Welcome patients and visitors as they arrive at the medical office.
Check in patients, verify personal and insurance information.
Schedule patient appointments, either in person, over the phone, or through online systems.
Coordinate and confirm upcoming appointments and update records.
Assist new patients with the registration process, ensuring accurate and complete information is collected.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals.
Answer phone calls and address inquiries from patients, family members, and other callers.
Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Retrieve and file medical records as needed.
Collect co-payments and payments for services.
Process financial transactions and provide receipts.
Prepare and send out mail, including invoices and appointment reminders.
Enter and update patient information in the electronic health records system.
Navigate and utilize the EHR system for administrative tasks.
