Business Unit General Manager (BUMA)
Environmental Sampling Supply, LLC, a Eurofins Technologies North America / Gold Standard Diagnostics Group company, is looking to hire a high-energy Business Unit General Manager to serve as Category Manager to oversee a new Laboratory Consumables Direct Sourcing ("Trading House") Business Unit.
The Trading House BUMA will collaborate extensively with existing ESS Supply Chain & Operations teams, Global Purchasing & Direct Sourcing Teams, and North American Certification Testing & Inspection laboratories across all Eurofins sectors to facilitate consumables product testing and validation efforts, to develop product pricing, to maintain item and pricing information across multiple planning and procurement systems, to coordinate demand planning and procurement, to manage inventory, safety stock, and product replenishment, and to optimize timely delivery, costs to serve, and overall procurement savings for Eurofins.
Job Description
This position will have full P/L responsibility for this new, highly strategic Business Unit. The BU will be housed within Environmental Sampling Supply, LLC (ESS) and will leverage existing ESS systems and physical infrastructure to accelerate its growth. The BUMA will report to the President of ESS. The position will be located in the ESS Headquarters facility in San Leandro, CA or in the ESS Central US Distribution Facility in Houston, TX.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Collaborate with Corporate Purchasing and Direct Sourcing Teams to accelerate the distribution of direct sourced consumables, leading the existing program out of the proof-of-concept and firmly into the high-growth phase.
- Collaborate across functional and group organizational lines to accelerate product testing and validation of direct sourced consumable products
- Engage individual laboratories (both internal and external) to validate potential market demand of certain consumables products
- Document key item specifications and support development of delivered customer pricing
- Place initial and replenishment supply orders to fill and maintain inventory pipeline
- Facilitate sales ramp-up of newly stocked products to ensure optimal sales uptake and to minimize order-to-cash cycle.
- Drive ongoing sales of Direct Sourcing Products to maximize TH Revenue and savings generated for Eurofins Laboratories.
- Monitor supply, demand, and inventory balance to ensure timely replenishment to ensure stability of supply. (Target On-time-Complete fill rate of 99%)
- Lead ongoing S&OP process with Laboratories to ensure regularly updated demand forecasts to minimize inventory risk.
- Measure ongoing Addressable Spend and % Spend Captured by internal customer(Target Capture 80%)
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain for Trading House products; driving optimal savings for Eurofins laboratories and optimal margin for the Trading House.
- Coordinate quality feedback and quality risk mitigation efforts with suppliers as needed
- Monitor and report monthly key performance indicators including sales, inventory $s, inventory turns, slow moving inventory, and obsolete inventory.
QualificationsWhat we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in supply chain / sales / commodity management / supplier management / inventory management, or related discipline
- Independent and intellectually curios manager; eager to take responsibility to drive action and to be held accountable for results
- Confident self-starter who can work independently without much structure, who also demonstrates a high degree of empathy and understanding of the importance of communication and reporting of progress.
- Experience with MRP, Manufacturing, Inventory, and Procurement
- Experience with import of physical goods (sea and air) from Asia and other regions
- Well versed in MS Office Suite, with strong skills in data manipulation and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills to quantify and evaluate manufacturing and logistics costs to determine lowest total delivered costs across a diverse range of product types and shipping modes
- Experience in working cross-functionally, working with multiple levels of management, and working across departmental and divisional boundaries.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25%
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in laboratory services sector a plus (Environmental, Food & Feed, Agriculture, BioPharma, Genomics, Clinical Diagnostics etc.)
- Experience working in product Distribution a plus
- Experience with Coupa a plus
- Experience with JD Edwards a plus
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish and/or Mandarin) a plus
Additional Information*Expected Salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 annually*
