Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director and Service Supervisors, the Cashier is responsible for all ID, Inter-Departmental, and cash transactions. Responsibilities also include properly taking orders and communicating, knowing the Microsoft POS system, and properly charging the customer. The Cashier is required to keep front of the house items restocked and rotated, and maintaining a clean workspace.

Job Duties

  • 40% - Processing customer sales transactions. Accurately and quickly processes customer debit and cash transactions using the Micros point of sale register. Depending on assigned area, take food orders, communicating with the cooks about all changes and/or missing orders, hand out completed orders. Portioning fried items for customers not ordering from stations. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Restocking food & beverage products and supplies. Ensures that beverage areas are cleaned, stocked and set up for opening service including coffee, tea, milk, cereal, soda fountain, dispenser coffee and toaster. Ensures that the oatmeal and toppings station is set up for service. Fills the soda fountain with ice. Checks and restocks water dispensers. Checks and restocks the condiment stations. Restocks grab and go snacks and beverages as needed throughout and at the end of each shift. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Perform general cleaning duties. Ensures that all food and beverage display and storage areas remain clean and orderly at all times. Sweeps as necessary to maintain appearance. Tends to spills promptly. Keeps all self-serve equipment cleaned and sanitized. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Train casual employees. Works alongside new casual staff to familiarize them with the Micros point of sale register, restocking and cleaning responsibilities. Reports any questions or concerns to the supervisor. Ensure safety of guests, staff and facility at all times. Performs all duties in a safe manner. Uses proper equipment and safety signs. Helps to identify and prevent hazards. Reports and issues or concerns to the supervisor. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Ensure accuracy of cash and debit transactions. Counts the opening cash bank at the beginning of each shift. Maintains the accuracy of the cash bank during the shift. Reconciles debit and cash transactions at the end of each shift. In consultation with the supervisor on duty, accounts for any discrepancies. Deposits cash according to established policies. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Provides customer service. Maintains a positive and professional image. Assist customers with questions, problems or requests. Enforces policies and watches for customer theft. Alerts management of any concerns. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Math skills to accurately reconcile cash and debit sales reports. One year of experience cashiering and customer service. Demonstrated ability to process food orders in an accurate manner. Ability to process customer transactions quickly and accurately. Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity. Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities. Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner. Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience cashiering and customer service in a high-volume environment, handling cash and card transactions. Familiar with POS system.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $17.28/hr
