Job Description

Join the LEGO Group in Richmond! We need a Category Buyer to lead all of the procurement of indirect materials and services in our growing facility. This will be a good challenge for an experienced buy who is passionate about learning every aspect of a complex and bustling manufacturing floor!

Core Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing, ensuring the best possible value for the company.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, new products, and potential suppliers that align with the company's needs and strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with company goals and improving efficiency and value.
  • Develop and drive cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality, including bulk purchasing, long-term contracts, and alternative sourcing options.
  • Ensure all purchased products meet our quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements, conducting regular audits and quality checks on suppliers

The Indirect and Service Procurement Category Buyer plays a crucial role in supporting the local manufacturing plant by collaborating with local stakeholders to meet all indirect purchasing needs essential for the facility's operations. This position focuses on procuring a wide range of facility services and professional services, including janitorial, security, waste management, consulting, and other essential services that ensure the smooth running of the plant. By developing strong relationships with suppliers and negotiating favorable terms, the Category Buyer ensures cost-effective and timely procurement, contributing to the plant's efficiency and productivity. Additionally, the role requires rigorous market analysis and compliance with quality and regulatory standards to maintain high operational standards and support the plant's continuous improvement initiatives.

Do you have what it takes?
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on indirect and service procurement.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proven experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of market analysis and cost optimization strategies.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory standards related to procurement.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and local stakeholders.

Compensation

The salary for this position has a range of $87,000 - $130,500 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
