Job Description:


Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)


Salary: $55,000 - $58,000


The civic engagement coordinators will join a dynamic team of professional and student staff to support and further the mission of the Center for Civic Engagement. The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) cultivates partnerships that strengthen communities and develop active and engaged citizens.


Two civic engagement coordinator positions are available. Reporting to the director, both will coordinate a variety of initiatives to promote and expand civic engagement opportunities to support students in developing the knowledge and skills to participate in community and civic life. These positions have primary responsibility for coordinating two signature civic engagement initiatives: our nationally recognized nonpartisan student voting program and the Civil Dialogue Project.


Responsibilities include:


  • Oversee nonpartisan voter engagement activities, including voter registration, voter education and get-out-the-vote initiatives
  • Plan and execute a variety of civic programs and events, such as dialogues, debates, candidate forums, educational workshops and more
  • Work with individual students and student groups to identify, develop and/or implement community or civic projects
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to plan and coordinate workshops, events and other programming
  • Develop and deliver trainings and workshops on topics such as civil dialogue, voter engagement and advocacy
  • Coordinate student participation in badge programs, such as the Constructive Dialogue badge
  • Plan and execute events that provide opportunities for students to develop and practice civil dialogue skills
  • Support student organizations and other student leadership efforts focused on civic engagement
  • Partner with local organizations, such as K-12 schools, to deliver civic engagement programming to new audiences
  • Assess the effectiveness of trainings, events and programs
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff, interns and volunteers
  • Support faculty in integrating civic engagement into their teaching and/or research
  • All CCE staff members contribute to promoting CCE resources, supporting students in connecting to opportunities, and communicating with various stakeholders.

These positions require occasional evening and weekend work to deliver programs and events at times convenient to students.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience coordinating programs/projects
  • 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred:


  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Experience facilitating trainings and/or workshops
