Primary focus will be the Americas (UL) market.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Product Management this position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to codes and standards, including test plans, associated with power distribution equipment. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manage both ETL and UL certification files associated with Switchboard and Switchgear product in the Americas.
- Lead the process of factory certification associated with these files in facilities primarily in the Americas but in some cases global too.
- Partner with the Operations Team at Vertiv to ensure these facilities are prepared to produce against the certification files.
- Work with the SWGR R&D team to create the test programs needed for new product development. Personally write and execute these test plans and provide feedback to R&D on design enhancements to not only pass the tests but also optimize product designs.
- Work with the R&D pre-order engineering team to identify what is and is not possible within the existing test files. Develop custom test plans for custom applications per customer requirements.
- Develop and manage the overall SWGR AMER testing budget and certification file.
- Work with other Vertiv businesses to develop test plans and certification that drive enhanced close coupling of gear in the overall power distribution system.
- Participate and represent Vertiv in codes and standards making panels like NEMA, UL, CSA, and NFPA (NEC process).
- Partner with Vertiv Central quality and Field Service to develop testing, and certifications, that deliver optimized performance from the plant as well as installed gear in the field.
- Partner with Vertiv's CTO office and Switchgear Product Management to test new materials and assembly methodologies.
Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Proven exposure and track record as follows;
- Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to design engineering and managing multiple ongoing projects / electrical equipment manufacturing
- Bachelor of Engineering College Degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)
- Proven understanding of UL standards including but not limited to UL 1558, UL 891, UL 489 & UL 1066.
- Aptitude for problem solving and ability to apply this to electrical control design
- An adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.
