Join our growing client in New Braunfels TX. The Cost Accountant (up to $82k) is responsible for overseeing and analyzing the company's cost expenditures and purchases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role includes budget planning, expense allocation, bid and proposal pricing, and ongoing support for various accounting projects. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of working cross-functionally to drive cost efficiency and compliance.
Essential Responsibilities
Corporate Expense Account Reconciliation
- Reconcile corporate expense accounts, including company credit cards, Amazon, and Home Depot accounts.
- Set up new authorized users and administer changes to user and business settings.
- Work with Controller / CFO to monitor compliance with expense approval hierarchies, spending authority, and expenditure thresholds.
- Verify and document all corporate expenditures, ensuring they are accurately categorized to the correct GL accounts, projects, or markets.
- Identify and report any fraudulent charges.
- Create journal entries for corporate credit card transactions and other expenses by the 15th of each month.
Budget Planning, Expense Allocation & Analysis
- Collect and analyze fixed and variable costs from vendor quotes and contracts to develop expense projections.
- Update budget projections and participate in buyout processes, ensuring accurate tracking of payments and invoice compliance with vendor agreements.
- Ensure appropriate GL coding for invoices and monitor client-reimbursed project costs.
- Summarize overhead costs and review budget-to-actual variances monthly.
- Prepare and present cost-related reports and presentations for management as needed.
Bids and Proposals
- Collaborate with the proposal team to review RFPs, developing efficient pricing templates that capture all cost data.
- Work with Procurement and Project teams to verify cost accuracy and completeness for each RFP.
Special Projects- Provide support on accounting-specific projects as directed by the CFO.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with cost accounting exposure.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word; experience with ERP systems.
