Data Privacy Technologist

Santa Clara, CA or Remote, United States

Chegg is looking to grow our team of Data Privacy Technologists. This role will work closely with business partners across the company to help develop and execute our Data Privacy Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute on the implementation of key privacy controls and business processes.
  • Engage with all technical aspects of Chegg's privacy program: data tagging, identity mapping, policy and standards, data subject requests (DSRs), privacy impact assessments and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate personal data inventories across our various service lines.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise in the data privacy space by sharing best practices and recommendations on product implementations with internal engineering stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to identify and evaluate privacy risks associated with new and existing projects, products, and services.
  • Stay up to date with industry and corporate partner standards within a rapidly evolving tech space.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Legal, and Product Managers to help teams address and respond to privacy requirements.
  • Consult and work with business teams to incorporate privacy into the design of new products, services, and business processes.
  • Analyze product roadmaps for privacy gaps and opportunities for innovation.
  • Compile privacy success metrics/criteria and monitor program performance.

Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally focused on privacy and/or security compliance.
  • Knowledge of IAB frameworks and common ad-tech implementations.
  • Familiarity with government and/or industry regulatory requirements such as GDPR and US State Privacy Regulations
  • Experience designing and maintaining systems and processes for user privacy and security.
  • Experience implementing and managing DSR process.
  • Experience documenting and diagramming data mapping and related workflows.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders from teams across the organization.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, ethical, responsible, and self-motivated.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills with a strong bias for action and the ability to build internal champions across the organization.
  • Passion for addressing and solving security and privacy issues.

Pluses:
  • Understanding of software application development life cycles.
  • Experience in software development, e.g., in automating tasks.
  • Experience creating and driving product roadmaps for security, privacy, or compliance.
  • Experience handling privacy considerations within mobile apps
  • Experience with OneTrust Privacy Management Software.

The pay range for this position is $105,976 - $262,241.The actual pay will vary based on geographic location, job requirements, professional experience, and other factors.
