Tulane University seeks an exceptional leader and scholar to serve as the next chair of the Department of Epidemiology in the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine.
Working in close collaboration with the deans and other school leaders, the next chair will foster collaboration within the school and across Tulane University, building on Epidemiology's historical strengths to inspire a diverse and expansive research enterprise. The chair will recruit and retain exceptional, diverse faculty, prioritize mentorship and professional development, and be a champion for student success.
The Department of Epidemiology plays a leading role in the improvement of public health through epidemiological research, education and professional service locally, nationally and globally. The department's robust research agenda intersects a broad range of public health issues, bridging the basic sciences and clinical care.
Tulane University's Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine is the nation's first school of public health, the leading institution of its kind in the Gulf Coast, and the No. 12 school of public health in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. The school is distinguished by a strong focus on cardiovascular disease, health disparities, reproductive health, and disaster response and displacement.

Tulane seeks in the next chair of Epidemiology an exceptional leader and scholar with a robust record of extramural funding, demonstrable experience or potential for success in academic administration, and a proven commitment to advancing institutional equity, diversity and inclusion. An earned doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related discipline is required. The chair must have an appropriate record of scholarship, teaching and service to meet the requirements for an appointment as Full Professor at the university.
