Ida Jane Dacus Library and Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections at Winthrop University seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented Digital Strategies & Systems Librarian to join our Technical and Digital Initiatives (TDI) team. This librarian serves as the technical lead in the management and optimization of the library and archives' information systems and processes, including the Ex Libris Library Services Platform (LSP); Springshare website and program suite; and the institutional repository and publication platform, BePress Digital Commons. This 12-month tenure-track faculty position reports to the Head of TDI. Rank will be assigned at the assistant or associate professor level, commensurate with experience.

Dacus Library is a member of the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) consortium which provides shared services for 55 colleges and universities including a Shared Library Services Platform (SLSP), statewide rapid resource sharing service, electronic resources, and collaborative collections. The pay range for this position is $55,000-$58,000, commensurate with experience.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Serves as administrator of the SLSP (e.g., Ex Libris Alma, Primo, Open Athens)
  • Manages the library's website (Springshare LibGuides)  
  • Oversees the Digital Commons repository and Springshare applications
  • Collaborates with archives on repository projects and collections
  • Teaches information literacy and participates in reference service rotations
  • Participates in collection development serving as departmental liaison for select academic units
  • Engages in scholarship and performs activities aligned with tenure and promotion
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree
  • Two years experience managing an LSP
  • Experience with website development and management
  • Experience with institutional repositories
  • Excellent analytical, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Project management experienceExperience troubleshooting hardware and software issuesExperience providing technical support and training Understanding of scholarly communication principles and practicesAbility to respond effectively to rapidly changing needs and priorities Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a collegial team Experience teaching library instruction classes and providing reference services

Preferred Qualifications:

Alma Administration CertificationExperience working in a consortia environment with a shared LSPDirect experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo, Open AthensFamiliarity with the Springshare product suiteAn understanding of metadata tools and standards (RDA, Dublin Core, MARC)
