The American Automobile Association (AAA) has been a leader in roadside assistance, mobility advocacy, and traffic safety for nearly 120 years. AAA Washington also operates a full-service travel agency and the largest independent personal-lines insurance agency in Washington.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This role is responsible for leading our data management practices across the enterprise, building a robust and trusted proprietary data ecosystem that will unlock new product and service opportunities, enable us to lean into ethical AI and predictive services, create new levels of personalization for our valued members, and create efficiency and value for our employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As a member of the Data Governance Steering Committee, assist in the creation of standards, procedures and practices that ensure enterprise-wide consistency in for the entire data lifecycle, including collection, storage, and processingof data.
• Ensure that our data stewardship practices align with data classification and data retention policies and standards.
• Establish documentation standards, naming conventions, and quality metrics
• Responsible for activities and processes that ensure the timely documentation of data elements, decisions, and business rules.
• Enforcement and reporting of policies and procedures to govern data, including data quality, security, and handling.
• Oversee the Data Stewardship Working Group, a decentralized group comprised of data stewards and advocates across the organization that is responsible for developing and auditing data quality rules, identifying initiatives that address data quality and trustworthiness, and establish data stewardship practices that ensures data meets the needs of the organization.
• Collect, collate and triage data issues, working with Product Management, Product Engineering, IT, Data Analytics, Information Security and business stakeholders to identify approaches and solutions for remediating data issues.
• Lead efforts to ensure that our reference data meta data adhere to standard business definitions, driving measurable improvement in data homogeneity and consistency.
• Lead efforts to classify data based on sensitivity, usage, and regulatory requirements
• Create and maintain a data catalog, ensuring an up-to-date inventory of data assets, their lineage, and identification of master data elements.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Engineering, Data Analytics and business stakeholders to develop roadmaps and strategies for positioning our data for Machine Learning and AI/LLM use cases.
• Lead efforts to devise enterprise-level data management roadmaps and annual operating plans for the organization.
• Focal point for data-related issues, facilitating resolution through the Data Governance Steering Committee.
• Responsible for maintaining evidence and supporting documentation to regulatory and internal auditing
• Collaborate with Technical Product Managers, business stakeholders, Information Security and IT operations to establish appropriate processes for granting system access and privileges and maintaining data controls.
• Collaborate with our Product Engineering, Product Management, Information Security and Data Analytics teams to ensure that our data management practices adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Information Security to ensure AAA Washington data management practices stay aligned with changing data laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with our Security and Learning and Development teams to ensure employee training accurately reflects the organization's data management policies and standards.
• Lead stewardship outreach activities that educate employees on data handling procedures and best practices.
• Lead efforts in collaboration with Product Engineering and Product Management for the archiving, retrieval, and reuse of data.
• Contributes to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, positive contributions, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals.
• Incorporates AAA's vision, mission and values in day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain committed to AAA's vision mission and values.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This job does not have supervisory responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent experience
• 5+ years' experience as a data architect, data steward, data scientist, or data manager working in an
agile/Scrum environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience in Travel, Insurance, Automotive, or Membership-based organizations

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• None.

• Capable data expert with the ability to lead and influence across a multi-faceted organization.
• Ability to lead facilitation sessions that guide stakeholders from ambiguity to clarity regarding features, capabilities, and priorities.
• Skilled in continuous improvement, continuously improving and optimizing how we deliver great product features.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum environments and ability to actively participate in quarterly and sprint planning.
• Demonstrated understanding of data management practices, platforms, and strategy.
• A skilled collaborate able to maintain calm and work closely in an engaging team environment.
• Leads with clarity and transparency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional listening and facilitation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Highly effective facilitation and project management skill sets.
• Experience successfully collaborating professionally and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to establish, nurture, and optimize key internal and external partnerships and influence organizational change.

SALARY: The salary range for this role is $105,876 - $137,598 and is based on experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• The physical environment is typical of a standard office space. It requires the employee to work inside for the duration of work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, sitting for more than 50% of the time. This position will require occasionally moving about inside the office to access equipment, cabinets, etc. May work around office equipment which could be noisy, such as copiers and fax machines.
