Scientific expertise is the foundation for all Medical Affairs activities and ensuring our US Medical Affairs Field colleagues are kept up-to-date with new indications, pipeline data, competitor information, as well as the clinical landscape and policy change is critical as we prepare for multiple launches over the next several years. The Field Scientific Strategy Lead will serve a meaningful role in coordinating field alignment in the scientific storytelling by the field medical team, coaching on deeper insight gathering and inquiring to advise internal strategy and collaborating with global medical training and the tumor leads to build content supporting the MSL scientific training post onboarding. Using multiple internal resources, including our global oncology medical training team (OMT), this role will serve as the point person for US-specific scientific launch and ongoing training for BC who will also be a key driver in prioritizing content across multiple inline and pipeline assets in partnership with the Field Directors and the asset leads/heads within the tumor teams.
Introduction to Role:
In this role, you will train and coach MSLs on scientific storytelling, build workshops and simulations, and partner with MSL Tumor Leads and Field Directors to address priority topics promptly. You will transform complex oncology clinical and scientific data into impactful, strategic storytelling for our rich BC portfolio, creating learning experiences to ensure effective MSL storytelling. Applying adult learning principles, you will coordinate and co-develop learning journeys across the field BC team model, where MSLs collaborate with alliance and internal field partners to improve the customer experience while maintaining patient and tumor-centric scientific storytelling. This will be achieved through close collaboration with our OMT team, TA-specific MSL Skillset leads, Field Training Specialists, Medical Directors, and others. You will adapt global training plans to fit US needs, develop US-only BC training plans per market need, and coach our Field Medical colleagues to build and demonstrate their scientific storytelling.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the creation and maintenance of BC prioritized educational ongoing curriculum post on-boarding, typically completed by MSL training lead.
- Work collaboratively internally to ensure the material created is incorporated by MSLs in scientific discussions.
- Accountable for the creation of a coaching framework/model that helps BC MSLs provide effective storytelling with their field partners.
- Lead appropriate congress abstract reviews by coordinating with Core Medical Team (CMT) and Training Leads.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (OMT, Global MSL Excellence [GMSLE], MSL Training Leads & Skillset Leads, Field Leadership, CMTs, and others) to orchestrate training delivery and coach MSLs on how best to pull through the content while asking Key Insight Questions.
- Leverage adult learning principles to ensure that learning curricula are engaging, impactful, and memorable.
- Develop and maintain documentation of training completion/assessment of effective delivery of the MSL storytelling in collaboration with Field Leadership.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert to be an effective coach for the MSLs.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, biological, marketing, communications)
- 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably as an MSL and/or RD experience; candidates with both Headquarter and field experience are highly desired.
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering scientific/clinical education
- Subject matter expertise in BC oncology
- Experience in adult education and learning design principles desired
- Strong understanding of educational assessment methodologies desired
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Consistent track record of working in matrix and complex environments while collaborating and driving results cross-functionally
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Empathy for the modern learner navigating the volume and complexity of information in oncology, along with the multiplicity of learning platforms and sources.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Advanced degree in biomedical field (Ph.D., PharmD., MD, DNP, DO)
- 5+ years in Medical Affairs
- Experience in clinical oncology
- Understanding of compliant considerations related to pharmaceutical scientific exchange
The annual base pay for this position ranges from
$191,584.00to $287,376.00. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
