Position Summary

The Ford Asset Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering College and automotive manufacturer approved curriculum in a student classroom/lab environment. The instructor must maintain appropriate training and credential requirements and assist in student recruitment and placement of students in appropriate work based learning experiences.

Salary Schedule Placement: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule D1 IB-IV ($42,108 - $94,363) based on education and experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment- Salary Schedule D1 ($13,001 - $29,184) based on education and experience. Annual Potential Salary including Summer Appointment ($55,109- $123,547)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teach 30-35 contact hours or 15-16 credit hours per semester and/or the equivalent in non-credit hours or a combination of the credit and non-credit course offerings.
  2. Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  3. Available to teach off-campus classes in day, night, weekend classes, and training opportunities as a regular teaching load, should the needs of the College dictate such assignment.
  4. Prepare and maintain current course syllabus according to the College's guidelines.
  5. Develop and implement a program of instruction that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and is consistent with local and state plan of study established curriculum.
  6. Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities which are compatible with the physical facility but serve the needs and capabilities of the students.
  7. Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
  8. Develop and evaluate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for instructional specialty.
  9. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty.
  10. Prepare program course offerings for schedule for each semester and term.
  11. Recruit students into program and advise through completion.
  12. Coordinate work-based learning opportunities for students.
  13. Establish and utilize Advisory Committee according to approved guidelines.
  14. Prepare and maintain program budget.
  15. Maintain lab equipment and supplies.
  16. Collaborate with other unit programs to develop and implement divisional goals.
  17. Knowledge of institution's program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.
  18. Update and revise courses in collaboration with the faculty, department chair, and dean of career technical education, and when appropriate, the advisory committee.
  19. Participate in student orientation sessions.
  20. Serve on divisional, institutional, and state-wide committees as appointed.
  21. Work with college ADA coordinator to provide appropriate accommodation for identified students
  22. Maintain and conduct schedule office hours for student conferences
  23. Mastery knowledge in teaching field.
  24. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Assistant Dean, Dean, Vice-President or President.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:

  • Associates Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution
  • 3 years of experience as an automotive technician
  • Proficient with computers
  • REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:

    1. ASE Master and L1 Certification
    2. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS -STRENGTH RATING:

    1. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a shop environment, with some travel; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; working and/or walking on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surface and rough terrain, extended hours including evenings and weekends.
    2. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in a mechanic shop environment; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weight; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; verbally communicate to exchange information.
    3. Vision: See in normal visual range with or without correction.
    4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
