Job Responsibilities

Pennoni is currently looking for a Forensics/Building Envelope Engineer with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Industry experience should include building envelope assessment, building rehabilitation, restoration, structural design review and field-testing of building envelope components.
  • Experience should also include cause and origin investigations and damage assessments of roofing, fenestrations, and envelopes of municipal, commercial, higher education and industrial buildings, as well as design and construction defect evaluation.
  • Responsible for reviewing construction documents, submittals, and installations on a wide range of construction projects for the Building Envelope elements and providing written recommendations for improving or correcting the installations.
  • Evaluation and investigation of existing structures to determine the structural condition and evaluate for repair, hardening or improvements.
  • Designing and detailing of the findings will be required along with periodic construction site visits,
  • Reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
  • Projects also are serviced throughout the state which necessitates travel of an experienced field engineer.

Required Attributes:
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software, RAM, STAAD, TEKLA, ENERCALC, MathCAD, but capable of doing design calculations manually
  • Required Education: BS in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 4-7 years
  • Minimum Years of Management Experience - 0-3 years
  • Licenses Required: EIT

Preferred Attributes:
  • Construction inspection experience
  • REVIT modeling capabilities
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Special inspector license
  • Master's Degree
  • Concrete inspection, building envelope assessments
  • Use of NDT tools and investigation methods
  • Experience with insurance or litigation support
