Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

This is a unique hybrid role involving work as an Inspector, Scale Operator, Kiosk Operator and Equipment Operator.

• Assist and direct customers to the appropriate location to unload materials.
• Inspect for the existence of flammable, radioactive, hazardous, and/or leaded materials. Inspect materials for liquids, non-metallic and all other posted or unposted materials non-acceptable (i.e., propane tanks, PCBs, batteries, etc.).
• Ensure that prohibited materials are not left on company property.
• Occasionally remove and properly store any items or materials.
• Obtain required information from customers for all transactions, complete required purchasing and shipping documents, and conduct daily reconciliations.
• Ensure regulatory and company requirements are met.
• General duties involving physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
• Be cross trained in other positions, such as Kiosk Operator, Scale, and some heavy equipment operations.
• May assist other workers as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• 6-day work week; Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hours are subject to change.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• A High School diploma or GED is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work with others and be part of the team.

Preferences:

• 2 years of experience in an industrial/outdoor work environment.
• Working experience around large trucks and heavy equipment.
• PC experience and processing monetary transactions.
• Current ability to operate forklifts.
