Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Consults with instructors of all ranks on course and assignment design, engagement of students in active learning, and assessment of student learning.
- Develops workshops and other group programs for both general delivery and as part of outreach to individual departments.
- Facilitates Faculty Learning Communities and Graduate Student Learning Communities.
- Collaborates with instructors who act as co-facilitators of events.
- Observes classes as part of the instructional consultation process.
- Supports instructors in developing plans for ongoing professional growth around teaching.
- Takes part in the Crimson Course Transformation Initiative, a course redesign project aimed at improving student success in high-enrollment, high-DFW courses. This role involves helping faculty teams gather relevant data about student performance in their courses and redesigning courses, activities, and curricular connections to improve student success.
General Responsibilities
- Provides support and guidance to faculty in both individual and group settings regarding instructional support, pedagogical practice, classroom management, and federal regulations like FERPA and Title IX.
- Determines additional support needs through consultation and designs resources to meet educational support needs.
- Participates in educational resources initiatives in coordination with faculty and staff to improve student academic outcomes and improve classroom experience.
- Trains teaching assistants, associate instructors, and graders in grading methods, responding appropriately to student concerns, and resolving complex issues.
- Plans seminars, workshops, and other events for faculty, associate instructors, and students, as requested and appropriate by faculty.
- Advances programs from individual consultations/workshops to larger-scale transformative events/projects when appropriate.
- May oversee student testing administration and consult regularly with students regarding coordination of educational resources.
- May serve as an informational resource and/or delegate tasks to administrative staff.

Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work LocationBloomington, Indiana
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between 1-2 remote workdays and 3-4 in-person workdays), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
