Job Description:
The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, tuition reimbursement and more!

This classification level is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive education program for Judicial Branch employees. Responsibilities may include managing and supervising to education program staff and direct reports; planning, organizing, developing and implementing a wide range of training activities and conferences; overseeing training records, resources and supplies; working with committees to determine education needs, and creation and delivery of education; using evaluation mechanisms to monitor effectiveness of education; and determining resource need for education; identifying potential sources for funding; preparing and monitoring education budget, expenditures; writing and presenting grant proposals for educational projects. Facilitating trainings as assigned or needed. Up to 20% travel across state may be required.

1. Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing, assigning and scheduling work; coaching staff; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are educated; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures, and maintain a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

2. Identifies long-term education objectives and goals for the Judicial Branch and provides direction on the implementation.

3. Oversees the Judicial Branch Education programs; monitors activities for compliance with policies, procedures, and strategy; provides guidance, consultation and technical support for programs, projects, systems, and processes.

4. Monitors and evaluates programs; investigates problems and issues; performs research on trends; analyzes and interprets data and information; and develops and implements program improvements.

5. Aids in planning, evaluating and forecasting resource needs; assists with preparation of budget and tracking of expenditures; reviews vendor invoices and submits payment requests; and recommends purchases.

6. Develops, reviews and revises policies and procedures to enhance programs and to address issues; develops and maintains management reporting, program documentation, correspondence, and presentation materials.

7. Curriculum development and training facilitation.

8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field; 5 years' experience in the management of adult education programs; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Experience working in a court is strongly preferred.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

  • Conducting research on industry trends, solutions and best practices;
  • Compiling and sorting data and articulating issues and recommendations;
  • Authoring and preparing original reports, documents and presentations;
  • Developing policies and procedures;
  • Facilitating group discussions and building consensus using persuasive reasoning;
  • Providing technical guidance, direction and education to program stakeholders;
  • Developing and managing business relationships with program stakeholders;
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment);
  • Providing customer service;
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications;
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objectives.
