JOB GOAL:

Design and lead fun, engaging, and safe camps to youth ages 8-15 during the summer.

Shifts available:
8:30am-12:30 pm
12:30 pm-4:30 pm
8:30 am-4:30 pm

Camps start June 16th and end August 7th, no camps on Fridays. Flexible schedule to be able to teach as much or as little to fit your summer plans.

Hiring for locations at our Main Campus (Cedar Rapids), Kirkwood Regional Center at University of Iowa (Coralville), and Linn County Regional Center (Hiawatha).

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
In search of new instructors to add to the Kirkwood Interactive Camps for Kids (KICK) team. Each summer we see over 1,000 enrollments of ages 8-15 years in our many different camps. Our instructors provide fun interactive camps in the fields of STEAM, Culinary, Career Exploration, Music, and College Prep. We are constantly looking for new ideas for camps and new instructors who would like to join our team.

Preferred Prior Experience: K12 Education, Child Management, Summer Camp experience, Early Childhood Education

Hourly Wage: $30.00

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently attend scheduled work shifts.
  • Design and prepare daily lessons or activities that align with the camp's theme.
  • Lead and instruct campers in educational activities, providing clear guidance and support.
  • Build rapport with campers, fostering an encouraging, inclusive, and fun atmosphere.
  • Effectively communicate with participants and Continuing Education Staff.
  • Answer questions and provide resources as appropriate to participants.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
