Summary:

The Tax Lead (Senior) Associate is responsible for providing support to the Manager(s) and Partners. The Tax Senior will normally need to have a minimum of three years' experience as a Tax Associate or have obtained a CPA license (or going towards). They will assume responsibility for the supervision of tax return preparation engagements, and begin to develop a command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations. Furthermore, they will become proficient at tax research including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the Firm. The Tax Senior must be a motivated, professional self-starter who can work independently, as well as in a team environment. They must have excellent organizational skills, pay close attention to detail, and take ownership of their work. The Tax Senior may oversee other staff and the client assignments of other team members. This position requires excellent computer skills as well. Finally, the Tax Senior has to be flexible in their approach to getting the project completed, possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and have the ability to work well with other staff members, managers, partners, clients and their service providers.

Major Responsibilities:

• Support the Partner(s) The Tax Senior provides support to the Partner by ensuring their work assignments are performed accurately and completed in a timely manner.
• Support the Manager(s) The Tax Senior provides support to the Manager by ensuring their work assignments are performed accurately and completed in a timely manner.
• They must report any problems encountered or discrepancies discovered throughout their assigned projects and tasks to the Manager in a timely manner.
• Develop and Maintain Client Relationships The Tax Senior will begin acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty.
• They will work closely with the client in order to perform the assigned projects.
• The Tax Senior will ask questions and consult with other team members, especially when any confusion arises from multiple priorities, technical uncertainties, assigned tasks or when engagement discrepancies are suspected.
• The Tax Senior will possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise Tax Associates.
• They will perform at a high level of efficiency while being able to multitask.
• They will turnover assignments quickly and efficiently, while also recognizing and establishing project priorities to at least meet client deadlines.
• The Tax Senior will perform their assigned tasks while attempting to meet budget constraints as well as communicate any overruns to the manager in charge.
• They will also meet or exceed chargeability requirements set forth by the Firm from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree
• 3-5+ years tax experience
• Prior Public Accounting and/or Tax Firm Experience
• Prior Tax Software experience
• Advanced MS Excel
• CPA Certification (okay if going towards)
