Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer (Position #005916)
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Vermont invites non-tenure-track faculty applicants to teach mathematics at the undergraduate level who can complement existing teaching expertise within the department, the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, and the University. We seek candidates who are able to teach a broad range of students, including majors in the mathematical sciences and students outside of the STEM fields, and who can actively engage with students inside and outside the classroom. Prior experience teaching Mathematics is essential; prior experience or willingness to teach in hybrid or online formats is a plus; and experience mentoring students at the undergraduate level is preferred. The candidate will be expected to teach three or four courses per academic semester. Experience using a variety of pedagogical styles, including active learning and project-based learning, is desirable. In addition to teaching, UVM faculty are expected to contribute to the missions of the department and the university. A modest amount of service and academic advising is expected for this position. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 9-month position. Applicants should have an MS/MA or PhD in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or a closely related discipline. Opportunities for teaching additional summer or online courses may be available for further compensation.
