Job Summary:
Under direction of the Lift Maintenance Manager, performs skilled work in including maintaining and/or repairing fixed and detachable chairlifts, tows and conveyors and their related systems and other duties as assigned by management. Duties are performed in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.

Giants Ridge is seeking experienced Lift Mechanics to join our team. In this role, you will troubleshoot, maintain and repair lift equipment to ensure safe transportation for our guests and employees on the mountain. This is a full-time, year-round position that includes a competitive benefit package.

Starting Hourly Wage: $24.00 - $25.00 and is commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs ski lift mechanical, hydraulic and other related systems.
  • Performs daily pre-operational inspections of lift equipment.
  • Maintains thorough, accurate and up-to-date records of all performed work to include inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Provides troubleshooting knowledge to facilitate the safe operation of all lifts and their related systems.
  • Performs daily checks and inspections of lift equipment.
  • Responds to and works to determine causes of lift operational issues.
  • Operates various types of equipment, as necessary for job duties.
  • Operates off road vehicles in all types of terrain including steep and variable.
  • Participates in training Lift Operators and less experience lift maintenance personnel.
  • Performs a wide range of duties at heights, frequently in excess of twenty (20) feet.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • At least one year of lift maintenance or related experience in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing similar equipment.
  • An in-depth knowledge of ski industry and lift maintenance best practices and standards including ANSI B77.1-2017 or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
  • An ability to speak, read, write and otherwise communicate in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Moving about on foot, snowmobile or UTV to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place on the mountain.
  • Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lbs. regularly, 50-75 lbs. frequently, ability to push, pull up to 200+ lbs. with assistance.
  • The ability to follow established policies and procedures when operating a snowmobile and/or UTV on the mountain.
  • Ability to perform work in extreme cold, wet and hot weather conditions for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
  • Must have the ability to engage in a wide variety of physical activities including walking, and working on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, squatting, etc.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties at heights from 10-60+ feet off the ground.
  • Ability to perform work in weather condition including extremes of heat and cold.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Variety of off-road transportation vehicles including UTVs, ATVs and snowmobiles.
  • Varity of construction equipment including telescopic forklift, skid steer and excavator.
  • Various maintenance equipment including hand tools, power tools, electrical system tools.
