PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of your job is to perform all patient exams with the highest degree of skill, fully utilizing all mammography equipment and protocol to consistently obtain images which demonstrate diagnostic levels of radiographic density, contrast and resolution.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
Under direction of the Mammography Technologist Supervisor, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates mammography equipment in a safe manner.
Produces the expected levels of production (volume) at reasonable speeds and on schedule.
Repeat rate at 6% or below
Properly utilizes all radiation protection/shielding procedures for patients and staff.
Properly attends to the physical safety of patients and staff.
Assures all areas are clean and orderly and supplies are maintained for all exams and procedures.
Provides all services to patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Cooperates and promotes team efforts with co-workers and members of the hospital staff.
Utilizes departmental and hospital information systems as necessary for patient care.
Checks PACs after completing exams
Communicates effectively and efficiently with the MGH Teleradiology and Breast Imaging divisions.
Prints films/CDs when requested. Able to obtain films from outside facilities.
Adheres to sterile procedures for biopsies and localizations.
Exercises initiative and actively participation in the reception area, film library, and transport functions.
Improves performance through education. Maintains required continuing education credits.
Interview/communication techniques are appropriate.
Initiates service calls when equipment is not functioning properly.
Performs quality control tests as required by DPH regulations and the equipment manufacturer.
Able to assist patients in scheduling appointments.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
•Equal to the completion of a two-year AMA approved Radiologic Technology program in a JCAHO approved facility.
BLS certification required.
•Must possess a current, unencumbered license in the state of Massachusetts.
•Must possess registration and permission to perform Mammography by the ARRT and BORM.
•Must perform minimum mammography examinations as required by MQSA regulations.
