The Role
The Lab Operations and Materials team seeks a candidate who will support management of day-to-day operations involved in running labs and will serve as the primary liaison between labs, lab associates and various external partners. This is an onsite role based in Moderna's Technology Center campus in Norwood, MA.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, extremely organized, engaged, proactive and resourceful individual who can multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Here's What You'll Do
- Manage day-to-day activities within the laboratory; assure effective operation and maintenance of equipment; obtain and ensure adequate supplies for experimental needs; maintain compliance with all policies and regulations, ensure optimal organization of lab space, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment for all members.
- Maintain inventories of lab equipment and scientific materials (i.e., probes, antibodies, etc.).
- Establish and maintain online documentation system for protocols and equipment manuals/SOPs.
- Act as liaison between laboratory, lab staff and collaborate with the lab operations team to achieve goals. Coordinate with these groups on projects such as fixed asset inventories, etc.
- Act as Lab Safety Officer, liaising with EHS & facilities to maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory.
- Train incoming personnel in proper lab conduct and may provide instruction regarding best lab practices. Develop instructional material for routine training purposes.
- Contribute to space management and planning.
- Assist in managing budget for lab-related assets including complex integrated systems, e.g. CapEx, materials and services, infrastructure, 3rd-party services.
- Strategic operational support: Strong focus on providing input and contributing to operational excellence initiatives, planning, monitoring, and documenting of projects and analysis of information. Active participation in and championing of cross-departmental initiatives and collaborations
- Collaboration and communication: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including lab scientists, 3rd-party vendors, technicians, and supporting functions including Health, Safety & Environment, Facilities and Real Estate, IT, Procurement, and Finance. Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Fostering a culture of collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within the team.
Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's or PhD degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related technical discipline
- Experience: 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 5 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree or no experience with a PhD degree.
