Position Purpose:
Responsible for the supervision of the plant Materials functions. Provides leadership in shipping/receiving, warehouse, and material handling to meet the requirements of our customers, internal and external. Maintains a continuous flow of product, resolves issues quickly and according to policy. Lead associates to achieve established safety requirements, product quality standards, customer service goals, productivity levels, and good housekeeping goals. Responsible for developing associates with the organization's culture and cross training requirements. Train team members in the elimination of barriers to achievement.
Essential Functions:
- Manage shipping/receiving, material handling, material flow, and freight traffic.
- Provide logistical support to plant manufacturing with emphasis on uninterrupted material availability.
- Develop associates with the team problem solving techniques and formal training on system support activities.
- Coordinates material team efforts to meet customer, plant and company guidelines and requirements.
- Interfaces with manufacturing to maximize productivity.
- Perform audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to ensure proper material flows are maintained.
- Sets example and enforces safety practices.
- Participates in the investigation of safety incidences and identification and implementation of prevention strategies for future reoccurrence.
- Meet with associate(s) when necessary to coach, counsel, or confront issues.
- Seeks resolution that reinforces our values and Company standards, guidelines and policies.
- Provides stewardship to the production control, materials flow and receiving teams.
- Measures performance and continuous improvement efforts of the operations relative to procurement, material handling/process flow and delivery.
- Schedule vacations and enter necessary date in the KRONOS system.
- Train employees on the QAD as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree is preferred but an associate's degree or equivalent experience in an applicable area is acceptable
- Forklift certified or license preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred which must have been in a team or highly empowered environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing plant using MRPII principles and software.
- Knowledge of warehouse inventory and floor stock cycle counting analysis and counting frequency.
- Hands on background in customer sales order picking, processing and shipping. Also, receiving of purchase order material.
