Job Summary
- Under the direction of production leadership, the PAO assumes the regular duties of, or temporary replacement duties for, all direct and indirect positions within (700, 800, 900) Production Departments, except for the positions of Setup, Molding Technician, and Lyophilizer Operator. Additionally performs jobs where planned production volume exists and there are no production operators assigned to that specific operation. Will maintain required budgeted throughput rates.
- PAO's will enter the position as a pay grade five (5) and must demonstrate the needed knowledge, skills, and competency of the jobs within their department to advance to the next pay grade. The jobs required for each department PAO is shown in the table below.
- Department 700/800 and 900 PAO's must demonstrate the needed knowledge, skills, and Competency of seven (7) jobs required for their department within nine (9) months and all jobs Within eighteen (18) months. Department 700/800 and 900 PAO's will be paid at pay grade six (6) when they are signed off on seven (7) of the jobs required for their department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
- Maintains a clean/safe work area and reports any safety hazards to supervision
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of all relevant production-related job positions within the 700, 800, and 900 areas while serving as a temporary replacement.
- Knows and observes all quality and GMP standards at each operation within the assigned department.
- Possesses working knowledge of the MRP system as it applies to positions within the assigned department.
- Uses current reporting methods for production and waste at all operations.
- Performs quality self-inspections, where appropriate, according to last methods using Vacutainer Specifications for all relevant operations.
- Works efficiently and cooperates with supervision and other employees.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESOther responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Complies with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
- Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- One year PAO or machine operator experience preferred. Diverse machine operating experience being a plus.
Physical Requirements
- LEVEL 3
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demands requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Mental Requirements
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
Equipment Use
- Understanding and ability to operate all relevant production equipment.
Working Conditions
- The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals and broken glass.
Supervision
- Reports directly to Department Shift Facilitator. Has no supervision over others.
Pay Progression by Pay Grade and training period limits
- The associate will earn pay grade five (5) while training for the first seven (7) positons in their department. The associate's facilitator will determine the order of the jobs based upon production needs and staffing demands. After a Department 700/800, or 900 PAO completes the required tests, learning outcome verifications and sign-offs for seven (7) jobs required for their department the associate will begin earning pay grade six (6) pay. After a Department 700/800 or 900 PAO completes the required test, learning outcome verifications and sign-offs for all of the jobs required for their department, the associates will begin earning pay grade seven (7) pay.
- If at any point during the training period it is determined the associate is not progressing, or it becomes evident that he/she is unable to perform the essential functions of the job, the individual will be disqualified from the position. The associate will be reassigned with a preference to their current shift, but may be assigned to an alternate shift depending on staffing needs. The reassigned associate may choose to fill a current opening, which had no signers, with management approval, or may sign current postings.
