Residence Life houses approximately 12,000 predominately first-year students in 15 traditional residence halls. Job Summary

The Building Coordinator works closely with the Resident Life Coordinator for Student Involvement and Engagement (RLC- SIE) to manage supplies and aid with creating transition and training documents for all levels of Hoosier Den employees.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Hoosier Den Space Request and Programming schedule.
  • Organizes the staff shift schedule.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for external organizations.
  • Monitors the Hoosier Den CRM account and communicates with constituents regarding programmatic needs.
  • Manages office supply inventory and communicates needs to the RLC- SIE.
  • Help to organize and create events and submit program proposals for Hoosier Den events.
  • Works in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to ensure programmatic efforts are managed seamlessly.
  • Aides the RLC- SIE in creating transition documents and training materials for all levels of Hoosier Den staff, for the longevity of the Den and benefit of future partners.
  • Oversees the Hoosier Den social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), posting several times per week for both general nightly programming as well as for specific events.
  • Arrange proactive conversations with potential partners/patron groups about the use of the Den spaces as venues (initial expectation: average of 2 meetings per week).
  • Collaborates with Program Specialists on producing timely marketing efforts for required programming (submission, review, and posting).
  • Refines the Hoosier Den brand with the help of Student Life Marketing by standardizing flyer formats, job postings, logos, and lockups.
  • Attends meetings with Hoosier Den staff: 1-on-1 with the RLC - SIE (weekly); LT meeting (weekly); full staff meetings (bi-weekly).
  • Follows protocols for corrective action/misconduct if witnessing misbehavior with Hoosier Den employees or patrons.
  • Acts as LT on duty or in the role of Program Specialist as scheduling or emergencies demand.
  • Other duties as assigned by RLC- SIE, Assistant Director of Residential Engagement, Associate Director for Residential Engagement, or other IUB professional staff member for the benefit of the Hoosier Den's success.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • Previously worked in the Residence Life or Hoosier Den for 1 full semester
Preferred
  • Program development and event management experience
SKILLS

Required
  • Willing to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to accomplish tasks on deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team toward a common goal and mission
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions / Demands

The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The position involves being able to move furniture up to 50 pounds. in order configure a requested setup. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$13.25 per hour

Work Hours

Shift occur between the hours of 7:00 PM-12:00 AM.
Position is capped at 29 hours per week, including all IU positions.
