Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Processor with proven experience in higher education payroll management and Human Resource Systems (HRS) software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing exemplary service to faculty, staff, and student employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all university employees, including faculty, administrative staff, and student workers, in accordance with institutional policies and labor laws.
- Utilize HRS software to manage employee records, timesheets, and payroll data to ensure accurate compensation.
- Verify and audit payroll reports to ensure proper deductions, tax compliance, and benefits allocations.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments to resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
- Maintain current knowledge of payroll practices, state and federal regulations, and university-specific procedures.
- Assist in preparing payroll documentation, including earnings statements, direct deposit information, and tax filings (W-2s, 1099s).
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees with clear communication and professionalism.
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, and improvements related to payroll functions in HRS.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably within a higher education environment.
- Proficiency in HRS software (e.g., PeopleSoft HRS, Banner, or similar systems).
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxation regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience handling multi-state payroll and diverse employee classifications (faculty, staff, and students).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
