Job Description:
Lead our payroll team as a Payroll Supervisor with DHHS, on the Financial Services team in Lincoln! Drive accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing while guiding and mentoring a dedicated team. In this position, you will help make a significant impact within DHHS and be a part of essential behind-the-scenes work.

Examples of Work

Responsibilities of the Payroll Supervisor include:

  • Oversee a payroll team consisting of 4 positions who are responsible for the payroll processing for the agency.
  • Approve and post payroll while providing any direction on resolving any batch errors; direct, implement, and advise on agency-wide process and procedure development for payroll to include technical expertise related to Kronos, Workday, and E1;
  • Reconciliation of DHHS payroll;
  • Assisting in the approval/posting of other accounts payable batches.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years' experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.

Preferred Requirements: 2-4 years of payroll experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Hiring rate: $24.298 - $35.818 / hr.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge of: professional accounting principles, theories, and practices; generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices and standards; research practices and techniques; budgeting techniques and methods; record keeping methods; word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs; computerized accounting software; federal and State laws and regulations applicable to accounting/finance operations.

Skill in: using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report.

Ability to: apply the principles of accounting, statistics, and fiscal management; learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, policies and operating details of an accounting system; prepare a budget; design reports and financial statements; compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions; operate office equipment such as personal computers, photocopiers and desk calculators; manage funds and provide financial and budget recommendations; analyze data and draw conclusions; organize and present facts and opinions so others will understand; effectively communicate to exchange and elicit information.
