The Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University seeks a Chief for the Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP). The successful candidate will be a recognized national or international leader in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and will be responsible for the supervision and development of clinical services, education, research, and community engagement activities for members of the Division within the Department of Pediatrics, other relevant areas of the Stanford School of Medicine, the Stanford Health Care system, including Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford (LPCHS) and its partner sites, and the University. Appointment may be at the level of Associate or Full Professor and may occur either within the University Tenure Line, University Medical Line, Non-tenure Line (Research) or Clinician Educator Line.

  • The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
  • The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
  • The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
  • The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful MD, MD/PhD, PsyD or PhD applicant should have board certification in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics administered by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), Board Certification in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities administered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), a Doctoral Degree in Psychology, or comparable experience and training including outside the US.

The ideal candidate boasts a distinguished track record in scholarship, with a proven ability to secure funding and produce high-quality research that advances the field of developmental-behavioral pediatrics. A strong commitment to mentorship is essential, as they will play a pivotal role in nurturing the development of young academic clinicians. Significant experience in developmental-behavioral pediatrics, along with a well-established national reputation within the field, are highly desirable. Beyond clinical expertise, a deep understanding of and commitment to serving the needs of the safety net population is crucial. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent administrative and organizational skills to effectively manage the division's resources and personnel.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Associate Professor: $229,000 - $241,000

Professor: $260,000 - $280,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
