Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Kirchberger Laboratory

The Kirchberger lab (https://kirchberger-lab.okstate.edu) is hiring a post-doctoral fellow to work on the isolation and characterization of elusive single-stranded DNA phages infecting anaerobic gut bacteria. This work is part of the NIH-funded Oklahoma Center for Microbiome Research project Engineering host-determinants of novel gut microviruses. This position is initially for one year, with a starting salary of $56,484. Extensions and renewal for a maximum of three years are based on availability of funds and annual performance evaluations.
Applicants must have a PhD with experience in working and maintaining anaerobic hoods for the growth of gut microbes such as Bacteroides and Prevotella. While not a strict requirement, ideal applicants also have experience in the genetic manipulation of these bacteria, advanced molecular cloning skills and knowledge of metagenomic sequence analysis.
