Position Focus:

The Yale Program for the Study of Antisemitism (YPSA) seeks to cast light on hatred directed against Jews from antiquity to the present. It is currently one of the few programs at an American university dedicated exclusively to analyzing the phenomenon of antisemitism. Since its founding in 2011, it has organized over one hundred events such as lectures and conferences as well as given out thousands of dollars of research funding to Yale faculty and students. It has also hired a series of postdoctoral associates to teach much-needed classes on antisemitism for Yale undergraduates. 

This position will collaborate closely with the Director of YPSA and will be responsible for the YPSA program management and development, public relations and marketing, communications, supervision, information systems, and the development of a long-term sustainability plan. This position will, in coordination with the Director, oversee the advancement and growth of the program and give direction and leadership supporting the philosophy and mission. It will assume primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program. This position may also assist in developing curricula on antisemitism that might serve as a model to other institutions of learning; create online courses and lectures (such as on MOOCS) focused on antisemitism that can be viewed for free; and arranging workshops to bring together scholars of antisemitism.

Essential Duties include manage and organize the coordination of events (speakers, conferences, workshops, community events etc.) Create/Produce original video and print content relating to antisemitism. Develop curricula related to antisemitism. Identify promising speakers and network at relevant conferences. Create a social media presence for the program. Produce annual newsletter. Identify potential donors and work with the Office of Development on fundraising. Assist in identifying and evaluating potential funding sources and contribute to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program. Outreach to Yale students (create/oversee student advisory board). Develop and facilitate relationships with other Yale university offices, external Yale partners and the community. Identify, solicit, and cultivate community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. Research topics and nationwide issues relating to antisemitism. Draft and edit reports, memos, and communications materials. Assist in the collection and assembly of materials for annual progress reports, grant proposals and donor communications. Track and advise the Director on overall progress of the program, anticipate needs, and recommend changes to meet objectives. Give direction and leadership supporting the philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives of the program. Oversee branding and communications strategies. Initiate, design, and manage the compilation of program communications including the website, identifying outreach potential and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Perform other functions as needed in support of the program.

Essential Duties

1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs and oversees programmatic activities. 2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures. 3. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential, and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. 4. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 5. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. 6. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. 7. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. 8. Develops and manages the program's operating budget. 9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resources including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related demonstrated experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1: Excellent verbal and written communication. Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking and administrative skills. Excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and, PowerPoint. 

Required Skill/Ability 2: Proven ability to work in a team and independently to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated positive attitude and commitment to working as a team. 

Required Skill/Ability 3: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work harmoniously with staff, students, faculty, visitors, university offices, donors, and external organizations.

Required Skill/Ability 4: Ability to exercise good judgement and proven ability to handle confidential information. Ability to manage sensitive political topics and issues. 

Required Skill/Ability 5: Ability to plan events, manage projects, set priorities, and advance outcomes.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Advanced degree: Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field. Demonstrated experience fundraising and event planning. Demonstrated experience in a higher education institution. Demonstrated experience creating social media, digital and print content.
