In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:A fixed-term Research Associate position is available in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health, at The Ohio State University (OSU). The primary responsibility of the Research Associate will be to assist the research team in analyzing large, diverse datasets to investigate the impact of environmental factors on health outcomes. The position is expected to begin on January 1, 2025, and ends on August 31, 2025, with no possibility of renewal. The role will be based on the Columbus, Ohio campus. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Jianyong Wu at The Ohio State University.
Job Duties
50% The researcher will conduct data collection, cleaning, analysis, and statistical modeling. Specifically, the researcher will 1) obtain relevant environmental data (e.g., air pollution, land cover, and climate factors) and health data (e.g., dementia prevalence and Alzheimer's biomarkers) from various sources, such as public and restricted databases; 2) clean the data and compile data together from different sources; 3) and analyze the data using statistical methods (e.g., regression, spatial statistics) and advanced machine learning techniques (e.g., random forests, neural networks) to identify associations between environmental exposures and health outcomes.
30% The researcher will 1) write manuscripts based on the results obtained from data analysis; 2) and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and professional meetings.
20% The researcher will prepare course materials for graduate students, including 1) Python coding tutorials, 2) examples of statistical models, machine learning models, and ArcGIS Pro applications.
