Job Description Summary
Perform experiments using a variety of techniques. The position requires assisting the principal investigator with wet-up of new laboratory space, including ordering, set-up and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and assistance with transfer of laboratory protocols, laboratory website, and other new lab logistics as needed. The position also requires laboratory purchasing, including obtaining quotes from sales representatives and selection of optimally priced laboratory reagents.

Job Responsibilities
A research specialist B/C is needed to carry out an array of basic laboratory techniques to study the role of microglia and the immune system in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. The work will involve cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, particularly in vivo CRISPR KO screens in mouse models aging and neurodegenerative and in iPSC derived microglia and neurons. This work will also entail advanced sequencing techniques to measure transcriptomic and epigenetic changes in vitro and in vivo, cellular function assays with live microscopy and flow cytometry and biochemical assays. Tasks will include human and mouse cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, sequencing library preparation, mouse colony maintenance, and mouse tissue harvesting. Experience in molecular techniques and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry is desired. Additional responsibilities include detailed and organized record keeping, writing, presenting research results to the PI, and implementing laboratory policies and procedures.
Research Specialist C
This position will perform the duties listed for the Research Specialist B but is required to have 3-5 years work experience, a research planning scope >4 weeks, to carry out troubleshooting experiments independently, to analyze and interpret data independently, and to write sections of manuscripts and progress reports describing research results.

Qualifications
Research Specialist B:
Bachelor of Science and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist C
Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
