Position SummaryPerforms security operations for one or more assigned events or facilities to ensure the safety and security of the premises, assets, staff, students, and visitors. This includes serving as a functional lead with other security personnel, implementing security policies, security procedures, and security training, making critical decisions and ensuring a safe and secure environment. Applies applicable safety, security, and risk management policies. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities* Patrolling and monitoring activities at an assigned facility and/or event to discourage criminal activity and ensure a safe and secure environment.* Monitor for trespassers and violators, following department and university protocols - understanding and knowing when to request law enforcement assistance.* Controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles according to protocols.* Monitoring surveillance cameras to identify any disruptions or unlawful activities.* Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.* Prepares special and periodic security or other reports and maintains unit records.* Provide oversight and operations of weapons detection and metal detection equipment.* Uses provided communications devices in a clear and concise manner.* Performs CPR and/or first aid when needed.* Assists event staff and security managers in coordinating operational activities.* Performs duties assigned by management to meet security policies and protocols.* Identifies vulnerabilities in security operations, protocols, or processes and assists in resolving them quickly and promptly. May be required to test physical security systems.* Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Three to five years of related work experience in security operations and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a security staffing role; a working knowledge and competence of complex security and building control systems, card access and video surveillance systems, safety management and emergency planning. Valid vehicle operator's license.

Desired Qualifications* Strong understanding of security laws, regulations, protocols, surveillance systems, and risk management principles.* Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP) is preferred but not required at the time of hire.* Certified in CPR/first aid or to become certified within a specified timeframe.Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
