Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides strategic direction and leadership for administration of sports and other key areas within the athletics department.
- Assists in the development of department policies and procedures.
- Serves as the sport administrator for assigned sports and supervise the team support functions.
- Oversees all operations functions within the athletics department.
- Serves as the primary advisor and liaison to the Athletic Director and assists in the strategic direction of the Intercollegiate Athletic Program in a manner consistent with the university's mission.
- Serves as the sports administrator for assigned programs.
- Reports to the Athletic Director.
- Provides leadership to assigned areas of the Intercollegiate Athletic Programs, which includes the department's business, facilities, and game operations units.
- Assists the Athletic Director in establishing overall athletics goals, objectives, and strategies; develops and implements programs and activities to accomplish goals while improving the image of the university.
- Supervises and manages sports programs and respective coaching staff as assigned by Athletic Director.
- Serves as a member of the Athletic Department's senior staff and leads department efforts in Athletic Director's absence.
- Serves as the department's liaison to the University Human Resources, IT, and Facilities Departments.
General Responsibilities
- Complies fully with all NCAA, Big Ten (or other conference) and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Provides oversight and leadership of major administrative areas and department initiatives which may include sports administration and other key functions within the athletics department.
- Directs and manages staff in implementing athletics operational goals and initiatives.
- Responsible for policy development, budget planning, program evaluation, and implementing changes to improve efficiencies.
- Advises management on certification/governance; stays abreast of changes in NCAA legislation and evaluates programs accordingly.

Working Conditions / DemandsThis position requires both sedentary work and long durations of movement about the workspace. It requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation.
