The Senior Computer Support Specialist reports to the Computer Services Coordinator. This position deploys and maintains all client workstation hardware, installs and troubleshoots all required software, and provides technical support to faculty, staff and students at the Sugar Grove campus. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed inventory data for all client workstation hardware on the main campus.
Responsibilities
Supervise hardware, software and physical environment of client workstations.
Provide professional development and training of personnel in the effective use of newly deployed computer equipment.
Prioritize and resolve Technical Assistance Center tickets in a timely manner.
Install and configure PC and MAC software, hardware and related peripherals.
Maintain computer hardware to the component and chip level.
Work with external technical support providers to repair or replace faulty hardware under warranty.
Provide consulting to the Information Technology staff.
Collaborate with the Information Security division to ensure optimal client workstation security.
Explore, research and review state-of-the-art concepts in the wider computer sciences community and recommend client workstation hardware and software.
Author knowledge base articles and other documentation for software installation steps, common troubleshooting solutions and workarounds
Maintain accurate inventory information for all computer hardware across the main campus.
Coordinate and manage assigned semester prep projects by arranging project meetings and developing timelines for implementation.
Provide Technical Assistance Center call queue coverage as required.
Configure and deploy remote laptops, hotspots, and other peripherals to faculty, staff and students for remote work and learning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree required, preferably in a technical field.
Two years' experience in the maintenance, installation and configuration of computer hardware and software required.
Knowledge of computer networks, various computer hardware and software needed.
One year's experience in-person customer service.
Good verbal and written communications skills. Good interpersonal and inter-organizational skills. Ability to interact with all levels of management, faculty, staff and students.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
