Job Summary
Manages the operation of College of Eastern Idaho Center for New Directions (CND) and provide academic and career counseling and referral services for potential and current students.
This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon available funding.
Typical Job Functions
Manages operation of Center for New Directions (CND), including grant applications, budget oversight, and supervision of staffSupervises and manages CND staffCoordinates with CEI Director of Grants to prepare and submit annual requests for funding, grant applicationsAssesses individual needs of clients through personal interview and testingServes as a member of the CEI CARE teamSchedules, manages, monitors and conducts classes and workshopsReviews, approves and processes client application formsEstablishes and maintains reciprocal working relationships with agencies, service providers and other interested agencies and individuals to create supporting networks locally, regionally and nationallyProvides in-depth academic and career counseling and referral services for potential and current studentsWorks with students to resolve concerns and provides services that will allow for retentionProvides workshops on various topics Serves as a liaison for the Center for New Directions and various community agenciesProvides oversight to the advisory board, including recruitment and membershipCompletes required reports for the institution as well as the state office of Career and Technical EducationPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in guidance and counseling or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience managing grant funds
- Experience administering complex programs and supervising people
- Ability to operate word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Excellent writing, speaking, interpersonal and negotiating skills
- Excellent administrative and public relations skills
- Incumbent must reside in the State of Idaho (CEI doesn't currently sponsor H-1B visas)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Background Investigations:Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
