With the goal of becoming the premier Immunoscience company, Sanofi is seeking a senior, highly experienced immunotoxicologist to work collaboratively with our Research and Development teams to successfully advance immunomodulatory therapeutics to registration. The incumbent will have extensive, in-depth scientific and regulatory knowledge in the fields of immunotoxicology and general toxicology as applied to drug development. They will be accountable for devising, leading and executing successful strategies to address immune-related safety issues and concerns at all stages of drug development with autonomous authority. Further, they will contribute expertise and leadership to external efforts in the immunotoxicology field aimed at advancing scientific knowledge and shaping health authority perspective as applied to the pharmaceutical industry.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an authority within Preclinical Safety and Sanofi Research and Development for immunotoxicology-related questions, strategy, and safety issues.
  • Devise, lead, and execute strategies, both experimental and weight-of-evidence, to manage and resolve safety risks for immunomodulatory therapeutics.
  • Drive and oversee development of assays and tools necessary for assessing impact of drug candidates on immune function to assess safety liabilities and determine mechanisms of toxicity. Ensure scientific rigor, including designing appropriate validation plans and testing strategies.
  • Provide instruction and mentorship to project team members and Preclinical Safety colleagues with respect to immunotoxicology and the regulatory environment.
  • Provide authorship and/or expert review of white papers or regulatory submission documents as needed.
  • Participate in external immunotoxicology consortia and symposia to influence industry trends and shape regulatory evolution in the Immunotoxicology field. Represent Sanofi interests, maintaining high ethical and scientific standards.
  • Author external presentations and manuscripts to contribute to scientific advancement of the immunotoxicology field.

About You

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PhD in Immunology or equivalent scientific discipline required, with 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry working in the fields of immunotoxicology and toxicology.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory safety requirements in the field of pharmaceutical drug development is necessary.
  • Experience working with various biological modalities is a plus.
  • Established record and evidence of scientific leadership and contribution in immunotoxicology and toxicology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Terms of employment
  • Occasional domestic and international travel to Sanofi Research and Development sites and scientific conferences. Availability to start in 1Q2025.
