Job Summary:
The position holder will assist the Air Conditioning Foreman and mechanics in the performance of their job duties. They will evaluate the needs of chemical water treatment systems to maintain critical heating and cooling systems on campus and assist with setting up digital controllers and other PLC’s type controllers as needed. Provide support assistance to other areas within the HVAC unit and Facilities Services as requested. Be able to take the lead in chemical treatment needs and disbursement for campus mechanical systems.
Specific Job Duties to include:
· Testing, monitoring, repairing, and installing chemical feed systems in campus hydronic heating and cooling water loops for the entire campus. Ability to monitor and correct any deficiencies in chemicals and chemical delivery systems. Understand the type and purpose of each chemical used to maintain the hydronic water loops on campus. Understand test equipment used to monitor chemical levels in various hydronic water loops on campus. Assist with programming and operating chemical feed controllers and other PLC’s as needed.
· Report job information to supervision including any system repairs or deficiencies found and the parts and/or materials needed to correct the condition. Report chemical levels and record any corrections made to system levels. Report any physical problems found in a rapid manner so repairs can be made before equipment failure. Report and correct any unsafe practices or conditions to supervision.
· Assist with programming other control systems serving campus buildings and environmental systems. Assist with set-up of new equipment controls and review any new controls being installed during new construction. Attend classes to better understand Building Automation Systems and how they operate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or equivalent studies required.
Maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license

Ability to understand standard safety protocols used in handling and storing chemicals.
Mechanical knowledge and skills to service chemical feed pumps and related equipment,
Mechanical knowledge to recognize any deficiencies or problems with system equipment.
Ability to maintain a good leave record.
Ability to follow given instructions and keep records
Knowledge of Chemistry
Knowledge of chemical water treatment
Ability to use PPE
Compensation:
Qualified candidates can expect an annual salary of $47,000 - $54,000 annually. Selected candidate will also be eligible for our benefits package: https://hr.tennessee.edu/benefits/
