Staff Accountant A/R

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable for our client, a private school in Westwood. This critical role involves handling tuition payments, processing donations, maintaining student accounts, and ensuring accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full-cycle A/R, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all Accounts Receivable functions for the school, including applying tuition payments, processing donations, and maintaining student accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to A/R transactions and adjustments.
• Interact effectively with parents regarding payment inquiries, updates on student accounts, and providing exceptional customer service.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions such as V/H-lookups, pivot tables, and if-statements to analyze and manipulate data.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness in financial records and reports.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations and general ledger entries.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and streamline processes.
• Adhere to deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively to meet reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-4+ years of experience in full-cycle Accounts Receivable.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced functions).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact patiently and professionally with parents and staff.
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP), general ledger, and journal entries.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an educational or nonprofit setting.
• Familiarity with accounting software
