Discover Impactful Work:

The Technical Applications Scientist is responsible for providing remote pre- and post-sales technical support of products to customers and field personnel and relaying customer feedback to the organization. The role is office-based and requires on-site presence four days per week.

A Day in the Life:

  • Answer customer technical inquiries, which may be received via telephone or email, to support molecular biology product lines and services.
  • Provide customer support on technical issues by applying all available resources and addressing advanced issues or problems when warranted.
  • Remaining at the forefront of scientific knowledge, participants must regularly receive product training and continue education on new applications and technologies.
  • Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in the Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Summarize trends and technology as technical tips, FAQ's and troubleshooting guides.
  • Recommend changes to knowledge databases, websites, and other company-managed databases of technical information.
  • Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
  • Participate in additional special team or individual projects.
  • May perform other job-related duties as opportunities arise.
Keys to Success:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques is required, with experience in cloning, nucleic acid applications, and end-point PCR being most applicable.
  • Prior experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Experience in an applied science area (i.e. food and animal health, clinical research, diagnostics, etc)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Technical writing capabilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Digital literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $66,000.00-$99,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
